Causes of Diabetes
It Matters Where You Live
A new study suggests that the air we breathe increases insulin resistance and inflammation. Cardiovascular and lung researchers at The Ohio State University Medical Center are the first to report a direct link between air pollution and diabetes but they did not direct their attention to the mercury in the air…
Mercury and Diabetes
If one does not understand the Hun Hordes of Mercury story one cannot truly understand diabetes. On August 1st of 2006 the American Chemical Society published research that showed conclusively that Methylmercury Induces Pancreatic Cell Apoptosis and Dysfunction.

How much relationship does this info have to type 1 diabetes? My husband recently had acute pancreatitis which caused his pancreas to stop working entirely (digestive enzymes as well as insulin production). By the time it was caught, he was also suffering liver & kidney issues & his blood electrolytes were dangerously low (especially potassium & calcium, they never mentioned magnesium). He’s home now on insulin therapy because his pancreas is apparently completely non-functional.
Would any of your ideas be helpful for him or are they for people with type 2
Dear Lisa,
I am sorry to hear of your husband’s troubles. Pancreatitis is a major infection or inflammation of the pancreas which can be of many causes. The cause must be determined and removed. Diabetics excrete more magnesium that healthy people do, so they are usually deficient. Research is showing that over 70% of diabetics are deficient in magnesium.
And yes, as a type 1 diabetic myself I can tell you that it amazes me that doctors do not heed the vast amounts of research and put all diabetics on magnesium. It is necessary for both type 1 and type 2 diabetics. It is necessary for insulin production in the pancreatic beta cells, and it is necessary for proper functioning of the insulin receptors. As co-author of the book New Paradigms in Diabetic Care and having looked at all the research that’s out there on magnesium and having experienced many of its benefits myself, I am astounded that increasing magnesium levels is not recommended to all diabetics.
Magnesium is also necessary in the production and functioning of over 300 enzymes in the body.
Iodine and sodium bicarbonate will do much to aid in the healing process and prevent major organ failure. Please don’t think these protocols will only work for type 2 diabetes as this would be a grave mistake. They are beneficial for both types.
This is a critiical situation for you and if you would like to consult directly with Dr. Sircus you can request this by writing to Luciana Valentim at: luciana@imva.info
